Do you have a real or artificial Christmas Tree?

In my class we took a vote, and out of 30 kids in my class, 25 of them got artificial trees! Personally I’m ashamed! It’s always been a tradition in my family to get a real Christmas tree, and it’s so fun to chop it down in the woods, hanging up ornaments and having the smell of pine in your living room! I want to see how many people actually use artificial trees, and why? It’s boring, and there’s no fun of getting the tree from the woods! Please express your opinions!

Any suggestions on how to keep my cat off of my Christmas Tree?

I need someone who has a tried and true method or a product out there I may be able to spray my tree with (it’s artificial) prior to hanging ornaments to discourgae my cat from playing with the ornaments. Please do not suggest spraying him with a water bottle, because that’ll only work while I’m home! My friend was able to find a bitter apple spray to spray on different items to keep her dog from chewing stuff…is there any kind of spray like that out there to repulse a cat? I’m thinking if I could spray it with something that will offend him (but not me nor my company) then he won’t even think of going near it! Or if not a spray….any other ideas? He’s 7 months old and is very playful and curious and smart, too! Any ideas out there or useful sites about cats I could visit? Thanks (I’ll also be chosing best answer myself)
To those suggesting I hit him…I’d like to find you and hit you! You don’t hit a cat for being curious…it’s their natural instinct to sneak and jump at items they think are prey. ugh!! If I hit my cat I wouldn’t be looking for alternatives to keep him from the tree!

And not putting one up isn’t an alternative either because my kids would miss the tree. Ba hum bug!

The bitter apple spray is what my friend used to keep her dog from chewing, I didn’t think it was effective on cats, actually I didn’t know. Only problem is my vet doesn’t carry it, does anyone know where I may be able to find it online? Or again, if anyone knows of any other spray that I could use that is non toxic and doesn’t stink to people, let me know, please.

I’m looking for a solution for when I’m NOT home…that’s pretty mcuh the whole idea. Caging him isn’t an option neither is booting him out the door like someone else suggested. I am humane to animals I keep….ask my hubby…he…he
